Family

We are extremely fortunate to have been blessed with loving extended families. Our parents are totally supportive of decision to raise our children in open adoptions and eagerly await the arrival of another grandchild!

Janet’s dad and stepmom live a few hours north of our home and are frequent visitors. Being together means lots of good food and conversation and a lot of lighthearted kidding and laughter. We usually plan at least one fishing trip/ camping trip with them during the summer. Steve’s parents live about five hours away but we get together for long weekend visits several times a year. This past summer, we rented a cabin together in the Eastern Sierras. We did some sightseeing, cooked and ate a lot of great food, and had many wonderful conversations. It was also helpful to have the grandparents around to help keep a close eye on Ella who was actively checking out her new environment!

Our holiday celebrations are always fun, noisy, and packed with extended family around the table. For eight years, we have hosted both families together for Thanksgiving and each year it just keeps getting better than the year before, especially now that there are grandchildren! We can’t wait to welcome more family to our table!
