About Us
We first met in 1997 on a ski trip with mutual friends. Steve was just learning how to snowboard and spent most of the day falling down the bunny slope. Between tumbles, Janet would cruise by to check in on Steve’s growing number of bumps and bruises before skiing off to her intermediate runs. During that weekend, we quickly developed a bond that would prove strong enough to pull us together across an entire ocean!
Early the following year Steve moved to Australia to work on his master’s degree. Then, when Steve least expected it, Janet arrived in Australia just in time to join Steve on a camping trip in the outback. There were kangaroos, emus, koalas… and there was love! During that trip we talked non-stop, hiked through the bush, and kissed for the first time under the pale Australian moon. Four years later, Steve asked Janet to be his wife!
We love each other deeply and can characterize our marriage as FUN. We are both experienced travelers and have learned to appreciate the unique beauty inherent to each person and culture. Some of our favorite outdoor activities include hiking, backpacking and fishing. We each remember catching our first fish and look forward to helping our children experience many outdoor adventures, especially their first tug on the fishin’ pole!
Our Work
We are both physical therapists treating patients with neurological impairments. Our work schedules are flexible. Steve works full time as a supervisor of therapists working in a large hospital. Janet works part time treating outpatients. Janet especially enjoys working with the elderly population. Both of us will be able to take extended family-leave upon the arrival of a baby.
Our Home
We all live in Walnut Creek, CA, which is east of San Francisco. Our home is on a tree-lined cul-de-sac near a park, a swim center, and a wildlife museum. Our little court is full of activity with the neighborhood kids riding their bikes and scooters and creating artwork on the asphalt with big chalk. In our backyard there is a grassy play area and a large garden where we grow our own vegetables. We have several close friends in the area that have young children. We enjoy spending time together and are excited that our children are growing up together.
